The Edo State Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the National Leadership of the NBA Women Forum, ably led by Huwaila Ibrahim Muhammad, for organizing a powerfully enlightening and impactful Empowerment and Mentoring Webinar titled "Torch Lighting the Mental Health of Female Lawyers for Maximum Success."
The virtual event, which held on Monday, April 7, 2025, via Zoom, witnessed an impressive turnout of female legal professionals across all stages of practice, who came together to reflect, learn, and connect around the all-important subject of mental health and self-mastery in the legal profession.
Speaking on behalf of the Edo State Chapter, NBAWF State Lead, Bridget Imuetinyanosa Iguodala, conveyed profound gratitude to the National Executive of the Forum, applauding the intentionality and relevance of the session.
In her words, “This was not just another meeting — it was a transformational experience. We were taught how to understand our stressors, manage burnout, and maintain peak mental health in a demanding profession.”
Highlights of the session included:
Stress Management Techniques: Attendees received practical guidance on identifying personal stress triggers and managing pressure without allowing it to impact their emotional and psychological well-being.
Public Speaking and Stage Confidence: The speakers emphasized the importance of self-confidence, preparation, and presence. Female lawyers were encouraged to “own their stage” and embrace every opportunity to speak up, lead, and shine in public and professional settings.
Motivational Talks and Peer Learning: The session also featured contributions from trailblazing women who have made remarkable marks in the legal profession. Notably, Mrs. Victoria Adeleye, a retired and highly respected Director in the Edo State Ministry of Justice, and Hon. Permanent Secretary, Lady Iryn E. Omorogiuwa, shared invaluable insights from their journeys, leaving participants deeply inspired.
Participants described the webinar as “WOW-worthy,” noting the clarity and power of the message shared. The event not only fostered professional development but also built a sense of sisterhood, solidarity, and shared ambition among women in law.
Mrs. Bridget Iguodala, in her concluding remarks, reiterated the chapter’s unwavering support for the vision of the Forum and its National Leadership, promising continuous participation and growth in line with the Forum’s objectives.
She ended on a high note:
“To the brilliant team behind this webinar — THANK YOU. You have ignited a fire of readiness and excellence in Edo State. We celebrate your leadership and congratulate you on yet another resounding success!”
As the NBAWF continues to raise the bar in championing gender-focused legal development, this webinar stands as yet another milestone in advancing a mentally strong, confident, and empowered community of women lawyers in Nigeria.
